Brimstone fishing is an ancient fishing method that is still used in Jinshan Bay, New Taipei City, where the only four brimstone fishing boats of the world today are still in operation. The local people have been trying to have the special fishing method listed as the first World Cultural Heritage of the city so that this tradition will not be lost and that the four boats will be maintained. The brimstone fishing season in Jinshan Bay is from June to September each year. The sight of the fishing method in operation is amazing, as thousands of fish jump out of water in the light of the brimstone fire at night. This photograph is meant to allow more people to appreciate the beauty of Taiwan’s culture through a different field of view and from a different perspective.
