Little green bee-eaters (Merops orientalis) are usually found in small parties. They perch on field-side trees or trees on hills, bare branches, low bush, fences and even on the ground. A little green bee-eater can take off very rapidly upon detecting an insect, seizing its prey and returning to its perch, where it strikes the insect to kill it before devouring it. During breeding season, they become territorially aggressive, and fights will occur, which is a favorite subject for photographers.
