Artist Statement

Winter Ice

In the early winter, ice freezes and later, it seems to get stronger. Its happiness seems to reach the peak of this season. No matter how thick the ice is, it will melt away as winter approaches its end and spring is coming. What kind of moods would ice have under its hard exterior in the late winter if ice had feelings? How would it face the shifted seasons, the nature changing, and the endless circle of life?

In selecting shooting scenes, I work with ice in a relatively large volume and unique texture within a larger space. Regarding the shooting timing, I use the ambient atmosphere to imply and explore the mood of ice at this moment. Besides that, I focus on highlighting the theme in the control of spatial relationships and do not deliberately pursue the harmony of the picture.
