The Mamian skirt consists of two pieces of fabric sewn together, with pleats in the middle, and a flat panel on the two sides – referred to as “mamian”. One mamian skirt has four flat panels. When worn, the two panels on either sides of one piece of fabric overlap the panels of the other. The skirt is secured using closures or waist ties.
The lion and rabbit pattern of this piece is inspired by artifacts. The fabric is made through a cotton-weaving process.
