The Mamian skirt consists of two pieces of fabric sewn together, with pleats in the middle, and a flat panel on the two sides – referred to as “mamian”. One mamian skirt has four flat panels. When worn, the two panels on either sides of one piece of fabric overlap the panels of the other. The skirt is secured using closures or waist ties.
This piece is designed with inspiration from an artifact with crane elements. The fabric is made using a cotton-weaving technique.
