Industrialization in Taiwan has driven younger generations to urban areas while rice paddies in mountainous areas are left to the care of the remaining older folks. This photograph shows that how some of the terraced paddies near New Taipei City are still planted by hand in a traditional way and what a beautiful scene it is as a farmer bends to transplant rice seedlings at a curved terraced paddy, with his reflection in the water.
